Name New Aquatic Centre
Can you make a splash by naming Frankston’s $49 million Regional Aquatic Centre?
That’s the question Frankston Council wants it’s residents to ponder, with Mayor Sandra Mayer urging locals to come up with a name for the facility.
“Our residents told us they wanted this facility, and it is only fitting that they contribute to naming it,” she said. The mayor said ideally the name should reflect the fact the centre is a lot more than “just a pool”.
Construction is underway on the health and leisure hub, which includes a gym, several pools, water slides, a creche, spa, sauna, and a wellness centre.
The winning submission for the centre’s name will be awarded a $500 gift voucher at the facility.
Name suggestions can be made via council’s website at frankston.vic.gov.au, or you can find entry forms at council’s customer service centres, libraries and community centres.
Councilllors will consider all the submissions received before deciding a name.
Frankston’s regional aquatic centre is funded in partnership with the Australian Government, the Victorian Government and Frankston Council.
The facility is expected to open around mid 2014.
